Mr. John Sawin
June 2019
I've retired after 31 years of teaching. I began teaching in 1988 at Grant Public Schools, where I taught Physical Education and Music at the Primary Center for grades K thru 2. In 1989 I was hired by Montague Area Public Schools. I was always the guy to fill in wherever needed, so I've taught at the elementary, middle, and high schools. At Montague's RRO Elementary I taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms, Physical Education, and Music. For one year I taught 6th grade math at NBC Middle School, and for three years I was the district Choral Director at the middle and high schools. My favorite assignment was teaching 4th and 5th grades. My favorite thing to do was to read aloud to the students. I've loved the journey, with it's joys and frustrations. I will miss the students very much, but I will always hold them in my heart!
