Each year Oehrli Elementary students participate in the "BIG CRUNCH". This apple eating event was started and organized by our food service director Dan Gorman. This year 15 west Michigan school districts and 18 different businesses and community groups participated in the event. At 1:21 pm on Oct. 13, 2016 we set an unofficial world record of 32, 715 people biting into an apple at the same time.
A good time was had by all! The students immensely enjoyed the Ludington State Park field trip. Though the day started out cold and rainy, it warmed and the sun came out in the afternoon. During our time at the park we hiked 4.8 miles (13,044 steps!) and climbed 16 flights of stairs. We took this trip in order to explore some of the land forms that we study about in our geography unit. Ludington State Park offers the unique opportunity to see all the following features and land forms in a one day hike: a Great Lake, beaches, a river, dunes (liner, parabolic, and perched), ponds, forests, a dam, inland lakes, islands, and peninsulas. Enjoy these photos from our trip. |
